Question #7: Other OSs

Would you find it useful if Valgrind was available on other operating systems? If so, which one(s)?

Another bad question... first, I should have combined it with the architecture question, because only some OS/arch combinations are relevant.

Second, I didn't ask for any indication of how much they wanted a particular OS. Thus, I had to categorise them:
- high: If they said something strong, like "definitely X", or "X would be fantastic"
- medium: If they mentioned an OS, I gave that "medium"
- low: If they said something weak like "maybe X", or "X might be popular", I gave it a low.

Everything mentioned got at least a low.

To be more quantitative, I then gave points of 3,2,1 to high, medium, low rankings, to get an overall order. Not very scientific, but it's better than nothing.

DG/UX 0, 0, 1 1
UnixWare 0, 0, 1 1
SCO OpenServer 0, 0, 1 1

A decent number of people didn't want any other platform. But plenty of people did.

Windows was the clear winner, although I put all windows answers into one category... some said Win32, some said Win2000/XP, some weren't specific.

Solaris is next most popular. Notable for having the most people who really wanted it... maybe because Purify on Solaris is so good.

FreeBSD is the most popular other Unix (esp. if you include the *BSD result), just ahead of OS X. But OS X was boosted by lots of people who didn't need it themselves, but speculated that other people would want it; so I would rate it lower.
